El Puerto de Tarragona inicia una nueva ruta comercial regular con Turquía

El presidente del Puerto de Tarragona, Josep M Cruset, y el presidente de la empresa logística EKOL Logistics, Ahmet Musul, han presentado una nueva ruta comercial Ro-Ro con el puerto de Izmir (Turquía) en el Tinglado 1 del Moll de Costa. Este nuevo servicio de carácter semanal tendrá capacidad para mover unas 210 unidades de transporte (UTIs) de carga rodada, incluyendo tanto camiones y semirremolques como la posibilidad de cargar contenedores, maquinaria pesada o cargas especiales.

Este nuevo servicio permitirá que productos manufacturados en Turquía puedan ser entregados en diferentes puntos del Estado, y viceversa al cabo de 96 horas.

La nueva línea regular supondrá un importante salto para el Puerto de Tarragona, ya que en primer lugar permitirá reducir a 60 horas el trayecto se convertirá en un puerto muy competitivo para colocar rápidamente cargas de un extremo al otro del Mediterráneo.

Además, porque como destacó su presidente Josep Maria Cruset, la ruta beneficiará la estrategia de diversificación de tráficos impulsada desde la autoridad portuaria tarraconense y representa una importante mejora en el tráfico de carga general, una de las asignaturas pendientes del Puerto.

La nueva línea supondrá un impulso a la intermodalidad y a las inversiones que está realizando el enclave tarraconense en la construcción de la nueva Zona de Actividades Logísticas (ZAL) y la Terminal Intermodal de Guadalajara.

Por último, la nueva línea regular tendrá un un impacto positivo en términos de sostenibilidad. Según estimaciones del puerto tarraconense, las emisiones de dióxido de carbono se reducirán en 10.800 toneladas y el consumo de gasóleo en 7,32 millones de litros anuales.

La ruta ha iniciado sus operaciones con una carga importada formada por unos 150 camiones para el transporte de mercancías para la multinacional textil Inditex, que será uno de sus principales clientes. La operativa comienza con la salida del barco desde Turquía los domingos y su llegada a Tarragona los martes por la noche, posibilitando que los camiones lleguen a las instalaciones logísticas del grupo gallego en el interior de la Península, entre ellas la Plataforma Europa en Zaragoza, el miércoles a primera hora, desde donde las mercancías se distribuyen a nivel mundial el mismo miércoles o el jueves.
