Los ingresos del comercio online crecen un 3% a nivel mundial

Según datos del Shopping Index de Salesforce correspondientes al segundo trimestre de 2021, los ingresos del comercio online han crecido un 3% interanual en todo el mundo, tras registrar cuatro trimestres consecutivos de crecimientos superiores al 50%. En España, este crecimiento ha sido de un 12% con respecto al mismo período del año anterior, convirtiéndose en el cuarto país que más crece, sólo por detrás de Canadá (23%), Reino Unido (17%) y Francia (16%).

El tráfico global a las páginas de ecommerce creció un 8% interanual en todo el mundo, una cifra considerablemente menor al 42% registrado en el segundo trimestre de 2020. En España, el crecimiento del tráfico también es superior a la media global, con un 24% frente al 39% experimentado en el mismo periodo del año anterior.

La cantidad de pedidos, en cambio, sí experimenta caídas, con un descenso del 5% a nivel global (frente al crecimiento del 109% en el segundo trimestre de 2020) y de un 51% en España (frente a un crecimiento del 114% del mismo trimestre del año anterior). Nuestro país presenta, además, la tasa de conversión más baja de todo el estudio, con un 0,7%, y el gasto promedio más bajo por visita y comprador, con 1,10 dólares.

Está claro que los consumidores no han dejado de comprar por Internet. Tras el enorme aumento de las compras online que se produjo en el segundo trimestre de 2020, los usuarios han seguido utilizando este canal, haciendo que los ingresos de los retailers sigan aumentando.

«Aunque el crecimiento interanual del comercio digital se ha ralentizado este trimestre, está claro que los hábitos online que los consumidores han adquirido durante el último año han llegado para quedarse», afirma Rob Garf, VP y GM Retail de Salesforce. «A medida que nos acercamos a la temporada navideña, los consumidores deben esperar descuentos más pequeños y un aumento de los precios en caja, ya que los minoristas siguen sintiendo la presión de los márgenes debido a los desafíos de fabricación, los retrasos en la cadena de suministro y la escasez de mano de obra”.

Este trimestre se cumple un año desde que las ventas de comercio electrónico se dispararon como consecuencia de la pandemia, dando lugar a un aumento del 75% con respecto al mismo período del año anterior. El crecimiento interanual positivo de este trimestre refleja que los hábitos de compra online adquiridos por los consumidores en el transcurso de la crisis sanitaria se han mantenido durante el último año.
