UPS amplia sus centros de almacenaje en Europa para apoyar a la industria de dispositivos médicos

Los fabricantes ganan un mayor control y visibilidad sobre el inventario y los procesos de distribución para servir mejor a sus clientes. UPS ha anunciado la ampliación de sus centros de almacenaje para dispositivos médicos en Europa, con el fin de reducir el tiempo de entrega y aumentar la visibilidad del inventario.

Estos centros, son instalaciones estratégicamente situadas y diseñadas para soportar la distribución de productos sensibles al tiempo y almacenarlos de manera eficiente para ayudar a que las empresas hagan llegar la mercancía más rápido a sus clientes, a la vez que gestionan los costes de inventario, cumplimiento de normativas y visibilidad integral. Este proyecto surge tras la puesta en marcha en 2014 de una red completa de normativa sanitaria sobre los centros de almacenaje de dispositivos médicos en Estados Unidos. Con esta ampliación en Europa, UPS ha reforzado su red global que ayuda a representantes comerciales a ofrecer un mejor servicio a sus clientes y conseguir una mayor eficacia. Los clientes tienen la capacidad de almacenar instrumental más cerca de los hospitales para los casos en los que el tiempo es de suma importancia. UPS cuenta con los principales programas industriales que permiten a sus instalaciones cumplir con las garantías de calidad necesarias de acuerdo a la normativa, plenamente integradas en la red de transporte global de UPS. En Europa, UPS está mejorando una selección de los principales centros de almacenaje, con un sistema de gestión de calidad que incluye la monitorización de la temperatura y visibilidad de la fecha de caducidad del producto, lo que hace que estos centros de UPS sean una solución rentable y práctica. «Gran parte del material médico se almacena rutinariamente en los maleteros de los vehículos de los representantes comerciales locales, o lo que se conoce en la industria como “el stock de maletero” ha declarado Jan Denecker, director de marketing y estrategia de la salud de UPS Europa. “Esto conduce a inventarios inflados con poca o ninguna visibilidad y con condiciones de almacenamiento poco óptimas. La red de centros de almacenaje de UPS ayuda a resolver estos desafíos para los fabricantes de dispositivos médicos».

Esta es la última de una serie de expansiones que se han llevado a cabo recientemente en Europa, incluyendo la adquisición del proveedor logístico especializado en el sector de la salud Poltraf en Polonia y Polar Speed en el Reino Unido. UPS también abrió una instalación de carga aérea en el aeropuerto Schiphol de Ámsterdam que cumple con las normativas y controla la temperatura y amplió su campus Europeo de distribución dedicado a la salud en Roermond. “La continua inversión de UPS en Europa demuestra nuestro compromiso de proveer de soluciones globales adecuadas que las empresas sanitarias y de ciencias de la vida requieren para satisfacer la demanda,” ha afirmado Geoff Light, vicepresidente de estrategia de la salud de UPS. Las capacidades de la logística sanitaria de UPS incluyen una gama completa de soluciones UPS Temperature True® de embalaje, transporte y mitigación del riesgo.
