El ministro de Industria entrega las Medallas al Mérito Turístico 2011

El ministro de Industria, Turismo y Comercio, Miguel Sebastián, entregó ayer las Medallas y Placas al Mérito Turístico 2011, acompañado por el Secretario General de Turismo y Comercio Interior, Joan Mesquida, y la Subsecretaria del Ministerio, Amparo Fernández.

Un total de siete personas y tres instituciones fueron galardonadas en la presente edición, en reconocimiento a su notable y extraordinaria contribución al desarrollo, fomento y promoción del turismo.

Sebastián, destacó la labor que cada uno de los premiados ha realizado a favor del turismo y, que ha hecho que España se haya convertido en un destino líder en turismo. Los datos hablan por si solos, entre los meses de enero y septiembre de 2011 han llegado a España casi 46 millones de turistas internacionales, un 8% más que en 2010. Y, lo que es más importante, para el mismo periodo de referencia, el gasto total realizado por los turistas extranjeros acumuló un crecimiento interanual del 8,2%, fijando el gasto del periodo en 42.242 millones de euros, que supone una cifra récord histórico de la serie”, destacó el ministro.

Medallas al Mérito Turístico:

En el sector público, recibió la Medalla al Mérito Turístico Jesús Atienza Serna, Cónsul General de España en Moscú, cargo desde el que ha apoyado decisivamente la apertura en la política de concesión de visados de este mercado emisor. Destaca por su contribución a situar a España como tercer destino turístico de los rusos y por su cercanía a las necesidades del sector.

En el ámbito del conocimiento turístico, recibió la Medalla al Mérito Turístico Domènec Biosca Vidal, presidente de la Asociación de Expertos en Empresas Turísticas y de la Asociación Catalana de Periodistas y Escritores de Economía y Turismo. Ampliamente reconocido como uno de los mejores expertos en turismo de nuestro país, fue galardonado por su intensa labor en favor del asociacionismo profesional.

Por los extraordinarios servicios prestados al turismo, recibió la Medalla al Mérito Turístico Vicente del Bosque González, seleccionador de la selección española de fútbol. Entrenador y futbolistas han logrado alcanzar, tras su conquista del Mundial de Sudáfrica, la máxima trascendencia popular, social y deportiva, tanto en España como fuera de ella. Su éxito deportivo les ha convertido en excelentes embajadores de la Marca España que han extendido el atractivo turístico de nuestro país por todo el mundo.

En el sector del alojamiento, recibió la Medalla al Mérito Turístico Joan Molas Marcellés, presidente de la Confederación Española de Hoteles y Alojamientos Turísticos (CEHAT), por su prolífica trayectoria profesional en el mundo de la hostelería y el turismo español y su interés en potenciar la colaboración entre el sector público y privado.

En el ámbito internacional, recibió la Medalla al Mérito Turístico Taleb Rifai, secretario general de la Organización Mundial del Turismo, la única agencia de Naciones Unidas que tiene su sede en España, en este caso concreto en Madrid. Destaca su empeño en divulgar que el turismo es un sector clave para la generación de empleo y riqueza de los países.

En el sector de la hostelería, recibió la Medalla al Mérito Turístico Francesc Solé Parellada, propietario desde 1972 del restaurante ‘7 Portes’ de Barcelona, un establecimiento que este año cumple 175 años. Fue inaugurado en 1836 y se ha convertido en un icono de la buena cocina en Barcelona. Esta Medalla reconoce su esfuerzo por mantener la tradición culinaria y contribuir a la excelencia gastronómica de España.

En el sector de otros servicios turísticos, recibió la Medalla al Mérito Turístico Pedro Trapote Avecilla, propietario de la discoteca Pachá, la chocolatería San Ginés y desde hace 30 años de la discoteca Joy Eslava. Pedro Trapote es uno de los empresarios más activos en el sector del ocio nocturno madrileño, uno de los productos turísticos que mayor potencial de crecimiento han experimentado en los últimos años.

Placas al Mérito Turístico:

El Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife. Declarado en 1984 Patrimonio Mundial por la UNESCO, el conjunto histórico granadino es el monumento más visitado de España. Recibe más de 3 millones de visitantes al año. El galardón premia su inmejorable gestión para llegar a ser uno de los mayores promotores del turismo cultural de nuestro país.

Repsol, por la Guía Repsol. Con más de 300.000 ejemplares vendidos cada año y con tres décadas de historia, es un referente en el mundo del viaje, la gastronomía y el vino. Recibe la Placa por su capacidad para unir lo mejor del turismo y la gastronomía, y por erigirse como un elemento indispensable para el viaje.

La Asociación de Cuevas Turísticas Españolas (ACTE). En la actualidad, reúne a 34 cuevas turísticas repartidas por toda España, muchas de ellas declaradas Monumentos Naturales y otras muchas declaradas Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO. Ha sido premiada por su labor en la promoción del turismo subterráneo y el fomento de un uso sostenible de las cuevas turísticas.
