El FROB confirma la inyección de 2.800 millones de euros al Plan de Recapitalización de CAM

El Fondo de Reestructuración Bancaria (FROB) ha confirmado a CAM que le proporcionará “el apoyo financiero comprometido” y que recibirá los 2.800 millones de euros solicitados el pasado 28 de abril como parte de su Plan de Recapitalización.

Con la aportación de este importe, CAM reforzará su capital principal, tal y como está contemplado en el Real Decreto Ley 9/2009, para todas las entidades viables del sistema financiero español.

Esta norma prevé que Caja Mediterráneo, al igual que el resto de entidades sin ningún problema de viabilidad ni de solvencia, pueda recurrir al FROB como una de las opciones para incrementar su capital principal y cumplir así a los nuevos requerimientos que han establecido recientemente el Banco de España y el Gobierno para todas las entidades financieras.

Tal y como indicó la directora general, María Dolores Amorós, “la posibilidad efectiva de que entre capital público aporta fortaleza y seguridad. Es un plus adicional para la confianza tanto de los mercados como de nuestros más de 3,3 millones de clientes”. Del mismo modo, la directora general expresó que “vamos a continuar trabajando por mejorar la aplicación de nuestro plan de recapitalización, que estamos cumpliendo con éxito mediante estrictas medidas de ahorro de costes y desarrollando mejoras de eficiencia y productividad”.

En este mismo sentido, Amorós resaltó que “el porcentaje de participación del Estado en el capital de CAM estará condicionado por la valoración del negocio de CAM y la presencia de otros posibles inversores en el capital de CAM”.

La totalidad de esta aportación será de capital a través de la suscripción de acciones representativas en Banco CAM. Por lo tanto, no se llevará a cabo la opción de canalización de fondos a través de participaciones preferentes convertibles.

Caja Mediterráneo dispondrá así de 5.164 millones de euros de capital principal pues, además de la aportación del FROB, cuenta con otros 2.364 millones de euros de capital propio. Adicionalmente, CAM cuenta con un colchón de 1.000 millones de euros de provisiones genéricas para hacer frente a una hipotética situación extrema en los mercados financieros.
