ACCIONA amplía su presencia ferroviaria en Australia

ACCIONA, integrada en el consorcio ActivUs, se ha adjudicado el contrato para el diseño y construcción del paquete principal del proyecto ferroviario Logan and Gold Coast (LGC) Faster Rail, una de las mayores actuaciones de infraestructura en Australia, concretamente en Queensland, valorada en unos 3.400 millones de euros (5.750 millones AUD).

El consorcio formado por ACCIONA, CPB Contractors, UGL, SMEC y WSP trabajará junto al Departamento de Transporte y Carreteras Principales de Queensland y Queensland Rail en Australia para modernizar uno de los corredores ferroviarios más transitados del estado. El objetivo es aumentar la capacidad y frecuencia del transporte público entre Brisbane y Gold Coast, una conexión clave de cara a los Juegos Olímpicos y Paralímpicos de Brisbane 2032.

Un proyecto para mejorar movilidad, seguridad y sostenibilidad

La actuación contempla la duplicación de vías entre Kuraby y Beenleigh, pasando de dos a cuatro, así como la renovación integral de varias estaciones, con mejoras en accesibilidad, aparcamientos disuasorios y conexiones para peatones y ciclistas. El proyecto también eliminará pasos a nivel en Woodridge, Bethania y Holmview, una medida que incrementará la seguridad y reducirá la congestión en la zona.

Además, se llevarán a cabo mejoras en el sistema ferroviario existente para garantizar un servicio más eficiente y fiable.

Inicio de trabajos y calendario previsto

El consorcio ya ha comenzado los estudios de terreno y avanza en el diseño del corredor ferroviario de 20 kilómetros y de las estaciones incluidas en el proyecto. Las actividades de preparación del terreno están previstas para la primera mitad de 2026, mientras que las obras principales comenzarán a finales de ese mismo año.
