España destinará 70 millones para cooperar con países africanos

El ministro de Asuntos Exteriores, Unión Europea y Cooperación anunció una nueva etapa en las relaciones con el continente africano en la que España destinará 70 millones de euros a proyectos de cooperación con países africanos.

​En su intervención, José Manuel Albares transmitió el interés de nuestro país por trabajar y unir esfuerzos en los múltiples intereses y valores que compartimos con África, y reiteró la apuesta en materia de cooperación, que se traduce en compromisos financieros por 70 millones de euros para las organizaciones panafricanas en la aplicación de la Agenda 2063 de la Unión Africana. Con esta decisión, España quiere contribuir a la estabilidad y prosperidad de ese continente al considerar que el papel de África en la solución de los retos globales es hoy una realidad que debe ser reconocida por la comunidad internacional.

Dirigiéndose en español, por primera vez en la historia, al Consejo Ejecutivo de la Unión Africana y después de que hayan pasado 15 años sin que un ministro de Asuntos Exteriores de España hablara a todos los países de África, Albares les transmitió el interés de España por trabajar y unir esfuerzos en los múltiples intereses y valores que compartimos.

Albares recordó que España promovió, junto a la Unión Africana, una cumbre mundial en la que se anunciaron compromisos por 236 millones de euros. Y, más recientemente, un plan de choque, junto con el Programa Mundial de Alimentos, cuyos beneficiarios también son los países africanos.​

Por otra parte, el ministro Albares inauguró en Adis Abeba la primera “Oficina de la Cooperación Española” (denominación contemplada por la nueva Ley de Cooperación) y firmó el Marco de Asociación País que actualiza el trabajo de la Cooperación Española con Etiopía hasta 2027 y que prevé destinar, inicialmente, 44 millones de euros a sectores como el desarrollo rural, la salud y la igualdad de género.
