Turismo

El turista internacional apuesta por España como destino

España recibió en mayo siete millones de turistas internacionales, con un gasto total de 8.023 millones de euros, similar al nivel prepandemia. Además, el gasto medio por viajero fue de 1.152 euros frente a los 1.028 euros del mismo mes de 2019, lo que representa un crecimiento del 12’1% en términos nominales y del 1,4% en términos reales, descontando los efectos de la inflación, según los datos de las encuestas Frontur y Egatur difundidas hoy por el Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE).

“En lo que llevamos de año, y antes de arrancar los meses fuertes del verano, España prácticamente ha recuperado ocho de cada diez turistas internacionales de 2019. Las buenas perspectivas que tenemos para la temporada alta, basadas en las reservas ya confirmadas para viajar a España, nos permiten afirmar que el turismo internacional continuará su recuperación en los próximos meses incluso en el actual contexto de alza de los precios debido a que nuestro país es muy competitivo y el alza de precios es un fenómeno global”, ha valorado la ministra de Industria, Comercio y Turismo, Reyes Maroto.

En los cinco primeros meses del año, las visitas de turistas internacionales suman 22,7 millones (el 78% sobre el mismo periodo de 2019) y el gasto realizado por los turistas en sus desplazamientos, incluyendo transporte, roza el nivel prepandemia con 26.776 millones de euros (el 99% sobre 2019). La estancia media en mayo fue de 6,5 días frente a los 6,3 días de mayo de 2019.

Llegadas de turistas internacionales

Las llegadas de turistas internacionales se han multiplicado por cinco en el último año. Prácticamente uno de cada cuatro visitantes recibidos (23,7% del total) procedía de Reino Unido, que fue un mes más el principal mercado emisor con casi 1,7 millones de turistas que se dirigieron fundamentalmente a Andalucía, Illes Balears y Cataluña.

Alemania y Francia son los siguientes países con más turistas que visitan España. Alemania aporta 975.241 turistas que se desplazaron principalmente a Illes Balears y Francia 925.994 Cataluña y Andalucía. Suiza es el mercado que en mayo emitió más turistas que en el mismo mes de 2019 (156.503 frente a 131.098 de 2019).

Principales destinos

Illes Balears fue el destino principal de los turistas, con una cuota del 23,4% del total, seguida de Cataluña (21%) y Andalucía (14,9%). Además, es la única Comunidad Autónoma con un gasto total de los turistas en los cinco primeros meses del año superior a 2019.

No obstante, en el mes de mayo y comparando los datos con el mismo mes de 2019, además de Illes Balears, también Canarias, Andalucía, Comunidad Valenciana y el resto de Comunidades Autónomas agrupadas tienen cifras de gasto de los turistas internacionales superiores a la prepandemia.
