Pescanova refuerza su apuesta por Perú

El Grupo Nueva Pescanova comenzará a finales de año la construcción en Perú de una nueva fábrica de 8.000 metros cuadrados, que supondrá una inversión de 7 millones de euros. El nuevo centro productivo, según ha informado la compañía , se dedicará principalmente al procesamiento y comercialización de cefalópodos como la pota, pescados como el mahi o procesados como el surimi, de los que se estima una producción de 12.700 toneladas anuales.

También se procesarán unas 900 toneladas de otras especies como el pulpo, el calamar o el pejerrey. La fábrica de Novaperú, filial de Grupo Nueva Pescanova, estará ubicada en el puerto pesquero de Pucusana, a las afueras de Lima, un enclave estratégico, por su cercanía con el mar. En sus instalaciones se dará empleo a unas 170 personas de manera directa, lo que supone incrementar la plantilla de la filial en un 10 %, señala la compañía.

Pescanova comenzó su expereincia en Perú en 1989 realizando operaciones de trading, pero fue en 1995 cuando nació su filial Novaperú con una fábrica en el distrito limeño de San Juan de Miraflores. En ella, que estará operativa hasta entrar la nueva en funcionamiento, se procesan distintos productos de mar, tanto cefalópodos (calamar o potón) y otras especies, como mahi-mahi, pejerrey o caballa. Su capacidad de producción anual es de 8.000 toneladas.

Nueva Pescanova apuesta por seguir creciendo en mercados estratégicos a pesar de haber cerrado el ejercicio del coronavirus en pérdidas. El pasado 2020, la pesquera cerró el año con una caída del 14% de la facturación, hasta los 905 millones de euros, castigada por el cierre de la hostelería en países donde opera en este canal. No obstante, el grupo mostró una evolución positiva en su resultado de explotación, que volvió a cifras positivas de un millón de euros frente a las pérdidas de 7 millones del ejercicio precedente. Acabó el año en rojo, aunque redujo pérdidas. El resultado fue de 39 millones en negativo frente a los 41 millones de 2019.
