La recesión en Turquía podría haber tocado fondo

Según el informe semanal sobre riesgos de exportación (WERO) de Solunion, compañía experta en seguro de crédito, Turquía abría tocado fondo, pero seguiría contrayéndose en términos interanuales.

Su PIB real creció un +1,2% intertrimestral desestacionalizado en el 2T de 2019, tras el +1,6% del 1T, que siguió a dos trimestres de disminución intertrimestral en el 2S de 2018. Sin embargo, en términos interanuales, el PIB se contrajo por tercer trimestre consecutivo, aunque en un porcentaje del -1,5%, inferior al esperado en el 2T, después del -2,4% del 1T y del -2,8% del 4T de 2018. El gasto del consumidor (-1,1% interanual), la inversión fija (-22,8%) y las existencias (-2,2 pp) siguieron realizando una aportación negativa al crecimiento del 2T, todavía afectados por la crisis monetaria (la tasa media TRY/USD en el 2T disminuyó un -34% interanual), así como por la agitación del mercado político y financiero posterior a las elecciones locales celebradas a finales de marzo.

Las importaciones se desplomaron un -16,9% interanual en el 2T en consonancia con la demanda interna, mientras que las exportaciones aumentaron en un +8,1% gracias a la mejora de la competitividad de las empresas causada por la abrupta depreciación de la TRY.

Tal y como se esperaba, la expansión del gasto público se moderó al +3,3% interanual en el 2T, después de haberse disparado al +6,6% por el gasto relacionado con las elecciones en el 1T.

En otro orden de cosas, los indicadores avanzados como las ventas minoristas, la producción industrial y el PMI manufacturero sugieren que la recesión ha tocado fondo. Pronosticamos una disminución del PIB anual global del -0,2% en 2019 y una expansión de alrededor del +2,3% en 2020.

Hay que tener en cuenta que no se descarta que exista riesgo cambiario: tras perder un mero -3,6% frente al USD de principios de 2019 al 14 de agosto, solo en la segunda quincena de agosto la TRY perdió un -5,7%, en un entorno marcado por las crecientes tensiones comerciales mundiales y el resurgimiento de la crisis argentina.
