Brasil es el país americano que más mercancía mueve con España

Más de 106,5 millones de toneladas de mercancías de las que pasaron por los puertos españoles en 2018, un +5,8% más que el año anterior, tuvieron como origen/destino algún país de aquel continente. De hecho, tras Europa, África y América se disputan la segunda posición como continentes de origen/destino de las mercancías que pasan por España, con unas cifras muy similares ya que África sumó 107,4 millones en 2018, pero con un crecimiento mucho menor respecto al año anterior, +0,9%.

De los 106,5 millones de toneladas de mercancías movidos con América, más del 45% correspondieron a países de Sudamérica, esto es 48,2 millones, y precisamente Brasil, que acoge el más importante evento logístico del continente, Intermodal South America, es el primer país de origen/destino de mercancías movidas con España de toda América con más de 26,8 millones de toneladas, por delante incluso de EE.UU. (24 millones) o México (12,9 millones).

Igualmente, Brasil es el principal mercado de Sudamérica, acaparando más del 55% del total de mercancías de la región movidas con origen/destino España, y creciendo a tasas del +3% anual, mientras que el conjunto de países de la zona decrecieron cerca del -4% respecto al año anterior.

Además, del total de mercancías movidas con Sudamérica en 2018, cerca del 28%, 13,4 millones de toneladas, lo fueron en tránsito, y Brasil acaparó el 61% de dichas mercancías (8,2 millones de toneladas), lo cual sitúa a los puertos españoles en condiciones ventajosas para cumplir innumerables funciones relacionadas con el transporte y la logística.

Puertos del Estado, como coordinador del sistema portuario de interés general de España, y una nutrida representación de Autoridades Portuarias españolas que suponen más del 45% del tráfico import/export entre España y Brasil (Bahía de Algeciras, Barcelona, Bilbao, Huelva, S.C. Tenerife, y Valencia), y las empresas Grupo Romeu, Suardíaz, Portel y BRK International están presentes en la feria Intermodal South América 2019, que se celebra en la ciudad brasileña de Sao Paulo del 19 al 21 de marzo.
