Banco Santander mantiene un año más su presencia en el Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), índice de referencia en el ámbito internacional que valora las políticas e iniciativas de las empresas en el fomento de la diversidad, entre sus empleados, clientes y sociedad.

Con una valoración total de 93,4 puntos sobre 100, Banco Santander ocupa el primer puesto en este índice de un total de 104 entidades participantes de diferentes sectores (finanzas, comunicación, energía, bienes de primera necesidad, materiales, tecnología, etc…).

Banco Santander entiende la diversidad de género como un elemento de enriquecimiento del capital humano, que permite promover un entorno inclusivo y diverso para alcanzar mejores soluciones y ofrecer un mayor valor agregado a sus principales grupos de interés (empleados, clientes, accionistas y sociedad).

Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index ha valorado muy positivamente aspectos como la diversidad de género, tanto en el consejo de administración como en la plantilla del Banco, la comercialización de productos y servicios específicos para mujeres así como el desarrollo de programas y actividades de inclusión financiera.

La entidad bancaria aumentó en 2016 el número de mujeres en puestos directivos en un 9% con respecto al año anterior, pasando de un 33% a un 35%, y aumentó el porcentaje de mujeres en los consejos de administración, tanto del Grupo como locales.

Destaca también el programa de microcréditos que impulsa el crecimiento de pequeños negocios que no tienen acceso al crédito formal, por el que Santander apoyó en 2016 a más de 250.000 micro emprendedores en Latinoamérica de los cuales el 70% fueron mujeres.
