La Fundación UPS dona 22.000 euros a la Asociación Chapotea para ayudar a menores desfavorecidos

Más de 140 voluntarios de UPS han dedicado más de 400 horas a una asociación juvenil. La Fundación UPS ha donado 25.000 dólares (22.000 euros) a Chapotea, una asociación española que crea un espacio socioeducativo, de desarrollo personal y comunitario para personas en situación o riesgo de vulnerabilidad, marginación y/o exclusión social.

Dicha cantidad se destinará al Proyecto lúdico-educativo ‘Barro’, con el fin de fomentar el desarrollo afectivo, personal, social e intercultural adecuado para niños de entre 3 y 18 años. El objetivo último del proyecto se centra en reforzar sus capacidades físicas y mentales, con el apoyo de un equipo multidisciplinar de profesionales. La donación de la Fundación UPS forma parte del continuo esfuerzo de la compañía para apoyar a las comunidades españolas done opera. “En UPS estamos muy orgullosos de estar presentes en la vida cotidiana de las personas, no solo a través de nuestro trabajo diario, sino también a través de voluntariado y donaciones a las comunidades locales” ha declarado María Margalha, directora de RRHH de UPS España y Portugal. “Esta actividad se enmarca dentro del objetivo que nos hemos marcado para 2020: alcanzar 20 millones de horas de servicio de voluntariado alrededor del mundo” añade.

El apoyo financiero de la Fundación UPS se utilizará para comprar mobiliario, material educativo y pedagógico que facilite la mejora de las instalaciones y la calidad de sus servicios permitiendo a la asociación incrementar el número de menores que se pueden beneficiar del programa. Además del apoyo económico, la Fundación ha prestado su ayuda a través de más de 140 voluntarios de UPS que han empleado más de 400 horas de voluntariado desde junio del 2014. La entrega simbólica de la donación se llevó a cabo el pasado miércoles 23 de septiembre en la sede de la Asociación Chapotea, en el madrileño barrio de Vallecas. El acto ha contado con la presencia de Christoph Atz, Director General de UPS España y Portugal; María Margalha, Directora de RRHH de UPS; Mª Jesús Ramos, Directora de Transporte y Distribución de UPS, y diferentes miembros de Chapotea.
