Brasil cerrará 2013 con el primer déficit de su balanza comercial en trece años

Según las predicciones oficiales de la Asociación de Comercio Exterior de Brasil (AEB), 2013 será el primer año que la balanza comercial del país arroje un saldo negativo  desde 2000, en concreto un déficit de 2.008 millones de dólares.

Los exportadores brasileños anunciaron ayer que las ventas externas brasileñas este año sumarán 230.511 millones de dólares, con una caída del 5 % frente a las del año pasado (242.580 millones de dólares). En cambio, las importaciones subirán un 4,2 % frente a las de 2012 y se ubicarán en 232.519 millones de dólares. Así pues, la balanza comercial brasileña dará un vuelco de un superávit de 19.431 millones de dólares en 2012 a un déficit de 2.008 millones en 2013.

La Asociación atribuye este déficit a la «acelerada caída de las cotizaciones de las materias primas en general y la reducción de los embarques de petróleo, aceites combustibles, maíz y algodón, además del aumento de las importaciones por la «menor tasa cambiaria vigente, la regularización de los registros de importación de petróleo y derivados, la expectativa de expansión del consumo interno y el mantenimiento del elevado costo de producción en Brasil».

Brasil importará este año un 9,2 % más que el año pasado, basado este incremento en el crecimiento de la demanda de combustibles en Brasil y el menor procesamiento interno de petróleo. La cifra prevista son los 38.556 millones de dólares. Por otro lado, estos resultados dependen mucho de las cotizaciones internacionales de alimentos y minerales, (el 65 % de las exportaciones brasileñas es de materias primas, en concreto el hierro se mantiene como el principal producto de exportación de Brasil, con ventas por 31.587 millones de dólares, frente a los 30.989 millones de dólares del año pasado.
