El tráfico de mercancías de los puertos españoles creció un 4% en 2012

Según datos hechos públicos por Puertos del Estado, el tráfico del sistema portuario de titularidad estatal se ha aproximado a su máximo histórico durante el ejercicio de 2012, al manipular 474.846.328 toneladas de mercancía total, y crecer más de un 3,9% respecto al ejercicio del año anterior. El récord en movimiento de tráfico se alcanzó en el año 2007, cuando se contabilizaron más de 483 millones de toneladas.

Por lo que se refiere a la mercancía general, que supone casi el 50% del total manipulado, registró 218,7 millones de toneladas en 2012, aumentando un 2,6%. Cerca del 74% de la mercancía general, es decir más de 161 millones de toneladas, viajaron en contenedor. Así, el tráfico de contenedores alcanzó el récord histórico con más de 14 millones de TEUs, de los cuales más de la mitad lo fueron en tránsito (7,6 millones de TEUs), el 35% de import/export (4,9 millones de TEUs, +5,7%), y el resto nacionales (1,5 millones de TEUs).

Los graneles sólidos, fueron el tipo de mercancías que más creció en 2012, registrando un incremento del 11,6%, superando los 88,5 millones de toneladas. Los graneles líquidos, experimentaron un crecimiento más moderado del 2%, superaron los 153 millones de toneladas.

El tráfico de pasajeros, que ha visto ralentizado su crecimiento por el descenso del 5,3% en trafico de cruceristas, superó los 26,8 millones de personas, siendo 7,5 millones de ellos cruceristas.

Finalmente, y aunque el número de barcos que pasaron por los puertos españoles descendió un 3% (134.578 buques), la capacidad de los mismos se ha incrementado hasta superar los 1.957 millones de G.T.
