El BEI concede un préstamo de 260 millones a Gamesa para investigación en aerogeneradores

El Banco Europeo de Inversiones (BEI) suscribió la pasada semana un préstamo de 260 millones de euros con Gamesa en apoyo de sus actividades de investigación, desarrollo e innovación en aerogeneradores. Este es el tercer préstamo que el BEI concede a Gamesa para I+D+i en los últimos ocho años.

El préstamo apoyará el programa de inversión en I+D+i de Gamesa, destinado al diseño y desarrollo de plataformas eólicas, onshore y offshore, de mayor potencia y con menor coste de energía. El proyecto contribuirá, asimismo, al desarrollo de una tecnología de energía renovable importante y a reforzar la capacidad innovadora y la competitividad de Gamesa. Por su parte, las actividades se llevarán a cabo en los próximos tres años.

“El compromiso del BEI con la investigación, el desarrollo y la innovación, especialmente en un sector con tanto potencial e importancia como es el de las renovables, clave para garantizar un suministro de energía seguro, sostenible y competitivo para Europa. La contribución del BEI va, por tanto, más allá de su capacidad de financiación a largo plazo, en estos momentos de restricciones de liquide”, declaró la vicepresidenta del BEI, Magdalena Álvarez.

Por su parte, Ignacio Martín, presidente y consejero delegado de Gamesa, manifestó que “la innovación en el sector eólico sigue siendo clave para el desarrollo de productos y servicios más competitivos, adaptados a una demanda cada vez más exigente. Este préstamo con el BEI, en condiciones preferentes, nos permitirá abordar nuestro ambicioso plan de producto y responder con desarrollos tecnológicos de vanguardia a las necesidades presentes y futuras de nuestras comunidades”.
