CAF se adjudica un contrato en India y otro en Brasil

En India, la compañía española será la encargada de suministrar 84 coches de metro para la línea Este-Oeste de la ciudad de Calcuta, gestionada por Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation, con la posibilidad de ampliar el contrato a otros 21 coches adicionales.

Los coches de metro que proporcionará CAF dispondrán de una capacidad máxima por tren de 2.136 pasajeros, y la velocidad potencial de estos trenes será de 90 kilómetros por hora. En su diseño se han tenido en cuenta las condiciones climáticas y de explotación de la Calcuta, que cuenta con 21 millones de habitantes.

Asimismo, CAF, en consorcio con las empresas de obra civil brasileñas CR Almeida y Santa Bárbara, ha firmado un contrato llave en mano para la construcción de la obra civil, sistemas electromecánicos y suministro de 40 unidades de siete módulos del nuevo tranvía de la región de Cuiabá.

Cuiabá es una de las sedes del Mundial de Fútbol 2014. CAF y las otras dos compañías del consorcio han firmado este contrato con el Gobierno del Estado de Mato Grosso a través de la Secretaría Extraordinaria de la Copa del Mundo de 2014 (SECOPA), por un valor global 590 millones de euros, de los 216 millones de euros corresponderán a CAF.

El plazo de entrega del proyecto es junio de 2014, coincidiendo con el inicio de la celebración del Mundial de Fútbol. Con este nuevo contrato en Brasil, la compañía española refuerza su presencia en el país, donde CAF cuenta con una planta, situada en Hortolandia, en el Estado de Sao Paulo.
