El mercado de photobooks doblará su valor en 2013

El mercado de los photobooks o álbumes de fotos digitales en Europa tiene un gran potencial de crecimiento a corto plazo según los datos extraídos del ‘Photobook Market Report’ que ha editado recientemente la consultora británica FutureSource Consulting y que prevé que el valor del mercado en su conjunto prácticamente se duplique en 4 años, desde los 421 millones de euros de 2009 a los 719,4 que se espera para 2013.

Service Point es el tercer mayor productor de photobooks en Europa y ha consolidado su posición pasando de la sexta a la tercera posición entre los principales productores de álbumes de fotos digitales en el continente. Las cifras que ofrece el informe de Futuresource apuntan que el año 2011 se cerrará con un total de 20,6 millones de photobooks vendidos en toda Europa, de los cuales 1,8 millones corresponderán al mercado español.

España supone de esta manera el 10% del mercado europeo de álbumes de fotos digitales con un valor total de 70,8 millones de euros en 2011, un dato que pone de relieve el crecimiento que experimenta el sector en España ya que en 2009 el valor total del mercado fue de 54,4 millones de euros.

“El mercado de los photobooks presenta un gran potencial de crecimiento dada la relativamente baja penetración de esta categoría de productos”, explica a colación del informe Juan José Nieto, presidente de Service Point. “Si tenemos en cuenta, tal y como señala el informe, que hay más de 100 billones de fotografías personales almacenadas en la nube, en redes como Facebook y Flickr, y que menos del 1% de las mismas están en photobooks, el margen de crecimiento del mercado es amplísimo”.

Otros factores que señala el informe como determinantes para pronosticar el buen comportamiento del mercado a corto plazo es el hecho de que sólo un 2-4% de los europeos adquirieron un photobook en 2010, al mismo tiempo que el 30% posee una cámara digital y el 18% realizó impresiones de fotografías digitales. La proliferación de dispositivos como tablets y smartphones ayudará igualmente a impulsar este sector. Se prevé que Europa pase de contar con 160 millones de estos dispositivos en 2010 a cerca de 600 millones en 2015.
