Ford invertirá más de 800 millones en la planta valenciana de Almussafes

El grupo Ford Europa, informó ayer que invertirá más de 800 millones de euros en la planta de Almussafes. El presidente de Ford Europa, Stephen Odell, indicó que con esta adjudicación, que se suma a la que se concedió para la producción del Ford C-Max, el programa de inversiones de la planta española hasta 2013 alcanzará un total de más de 1.100 millones de euros. De este modo, está previsto que la planta valenciana de Ford incorpore en los próximos meses a centenares de trabajadores, según el propio Odell.

El ministro de Industria, Miguel Sebastián, explicó que esta inversión es la mayor de la historia que ha producido la industria de la automoción en España y «garantiza» el futuro de la factoría valenciana «para las próximas décadas». Por su parte, el president de la Generalitat Valenciana, Francisco Camps, destacó la importancia de esta noticia para el presente y el futuro de una industria que genera cerca de 30.000 puestos de trabajo en la Comunitat y supone el 3% del PIB regional.

En su intervención, Odell reclamó el apoyo de ambas administraciones en defensa del sector del automoción en la UE, que se enfrenta según él a un «entorno escéptico» en el que «aumentan las regulaciones y se reducen los aranceles a la importación». Por ello, ha solicitado «más apoyo» y «respaldo» para los productores que considera «la médula ósea» del sector de la automoción, que genera 12 millones de puestos de trabajo en Europa, el 10% de la fabricación mundial de automóviles y el 35%del empleo europeo.

Miguel Sebastián, indicó que la producción de dos nuevos modelos, junto con las versiones híbridas y enchufables del C-Max y los motores Ecoboost presentados en mayo de 2010, «garantizan el futuro de la planta para las próximas décadas».
