Planasa aumenta su presencia en el continente americano

La productora navarra de espárragos y fresa Planasa, ha creado una filial en Chile y tiene como objetivo vender este año plantas de fresa y espárrago adaptadas específicamente al clima de los países sudamericanos. En cinco años la empresa alcanzará pleno rendimiento con la oferta también de árboles frutales, semillas de ajo y plantas de frambuesa.

“Llevamos años estudiando diversas localizaciones y nos decidimos por Chile ya que es un país avanzado, muy preparado y seguro para las nuevas inversiones. Chile se convierte para nosotros en otro mercado y en una plataforma de distribución al resto de los países americanos”, afirma Iván Leache, director comercial del Grupo Planasa. “Una empresa en el hemisferio sur nos permite, además, duplicar la estacionalidad de nuestros productos” puntualiza Leache.

Planasa Chile cuenta actualmente con 100 hectáreas en el término municipal de Cabrero, provincia de Los Ángeles. La inversión, íntegramente realizada por el Grupo Planasa, asciende a 12 millones de dólares en 5 años, periodo en el cual Planasa Chile se ha marcado como objetivo producir y distribuir los mismos productos y volúmenes que maneja actualmente este grupo en España, pero con la diferencia de que las nuevas variedades vegetales obtenidas estarán pensadas exclusivamente para las características del continente americano.

El responsable de Planasa Chile, aseguró que la productora ha cumplido con los plazos y objetivos marcados y ya en 2011 podrá servir planta de fresa de la variedad Candonga y planta de espárrago no sólo a los agricultores chilenos, sino también a otros países como Argentina, Perú o Brasil.

Hace un par de meses el Grupo Planasa anunció también la apertura de Planamerica, su filial en México, para cubrir la demanda de este país centroamericano. Ahora, con la creación de Planasa Chile, el grupo consigue una presencia mayor en el continente americano, el gran proveedor hortofrutícola a nivel mundial, y se especializa también en la obtención de variedades adaptadas al hemisferio sur.
