Murcia y Fomento acuerdan potenciar el transporte ferroviario a través de una red de terminales logísticas asociadas al Corredor Mediterráneo

Ayer tuvo lugar una reunión entre el consejero de Obras Públicas y Ordenación del Territorio de Murcia, José Ballesta, y el secretario general de Transportes del Ministerio de Fomento, José Luis Cachafeiro, en la que acordaron la creación de una red de terminales logísticas asociadas al Corredor Mediterráneo de Mercancías a su paso por la Región.

El proyecto forma parte del ‘Plan Estratégico para el impulso del transporte ferroviario de mercancías en España’ y supone el posicionamiento de una red de terminales logísticas e intermodales vinculadas a las principales zonas de producción, distribución y consumo de la Región: Puerto de Cartagena, Murcia, Valle del Guadalentín, Altiplano-Noroeste, Campo de Cartagena-Mar Menor y Aeropuerto Internacional.

El consejero señaló que este proyecto favorecerá a la expansión de las plataformas logísticas regionales ubicadas en las principales zonas de producción y distribución de la Región de Murcia, que serán fundamentales para canalizar las exportaciones de la Comunidad hacia los mercados interior y europeo, garantizando así la competitividad de las empresas murcianas.

El establecimiento del Corredor Ferroviario de Mercancías, la eliminación de los cuellos de botella existentes hoy en día y la conexión con las terminales ferroviarias en las zonas logísticas y comerciales más importantes de la Región supondrá una oportunidad de crecimiento estratégica tanto para Murcia como para España.

El plan presentado por el Gobierno de la Región de Murcia propone, como proyecto prioritario, la creación de terminales intermodales en la plataforma logística del Valle de Escombreras, un polo energético de carácter estratégico nacional que potenciaría la logística comercial terrestre de toda la Región. También como punto prioritario se potenciará la Zona de Actividades Logísticas (ZAL) Murcia Oeste, que aglutinaría la mayor parte de la distribución regional vinculada a la industria; y la ZAL de Lorca-Valle del Guadalentín, como puerta de Andalucía y vinculada a la producción y comercialización agrícola y ganadera.

Para dar servicio a la salida de materias primas del noroeste y las industrias de transformación del Altiplano se ha propuesto la construcción de terminales ferroviarias en las inmediaciones de la Venta del Olivo. El consejero destacó que hay que impulsar el transporte de mercancías por ferrocarril a través del establecimiento de vías de uso exclusivo y la inclusión del Corredor Mediterráneo de Mercancías como proyecto prioritario de la Red Transeuropea de Transportes.

Por último dentro del plan se considera al Centro Logístico del Aeropuerto Internacional de la Región de Murcia, como potenciador de la formación del eje logístico Murcia-Cartagena.
